ABOUT US

We would like to extend a warm welcome aboard the Debra Rose, the home of the world’s first sail thru Fish and Chip Restaurant.

The ship, named after the eldest daughter of John McMonagle, was custom built by Campbeltown Shipbuilders in 1993.

According to John, everyone enjoys a carry out supper but the only way to really appreciate a good fish tea is to eat it off a plate. It was from this belief that he came up with the idea of this restaurant.

After a lot of hard work, not only by John himself but by his wife and family, what seemed at times a pipe dream, became a reality.

This is dedicated to John’s late stepfather, Thomas Stewart, who’s help and encouragement will never be forgotten.
